Fargo Date Ideas

Fargo Date Ideas

Posted by Addie Long on Dec 19th 2019

As Fargonians, there re a lot of struggles with living here (cold weather, icy sidewalks, the occasional flood and that darn wind). None of this is new to us including the incredible warmth felt in the sense of community and the people that surround us! Take advantage of those around you and plan a night out on the town! If you are stuck in a rut (or stuck in a snowbank passing time until the tow truck comes), here are five Fargo date ideas:

VOLUNTEER

One of the best ways to spend your day is by giving back! Fargo is filled with amazing nonprofit organizations that are looking for support. Find a program that aligns with your passions whether it be building floral bouquets to packing lunches to attending galas - Fargo is looking for YOUR help to improve the world. You can make this a group date or even a friend date! Start off the day with some early morning coffee at a local coffee shop and then go make a difference in our community! We’ve even got some shirts for you to wear that give back to local nonprofits!

RESTAURANT/BREWERY HOP

Fargo has one of the highest restaurant per capita ratios in the country! Want to try them all? Make a list of your favorites and venture to have on course at each location. From appetizer to main entree to dessert - Fargo isn’t short on culinary talent! If you’re into drinking local Fargo-Moorhead breweries offer a wide variety of beers and some tasty popcorn.

HOTDISH COOK-OFF

A true midwestern classic date. Now we are sure there won’t be any elbows thrown in this cook-off as conflict is always avoided. You might utter a few opes when you bump into one another but this date idea is sure to be a hit. This date idea could be a cook-off between friends to determine who has the best tater tot hotdish or include your significant other to see what it is like to cook together. You might learn more about each other than you think!

LEARN

Five area colleges. Fargo is quite literally surrounded by opportunities to learn. Whether it is a lecture, a conference, art classes, local speaking engagements or even a free class at a local college - enjoy the challenge together. Fargo is filled with free classes and lots of local opportunities to learn a new skill! You can even make a meal out of it by attending a cooking class as locations such as Square One! They even host private cooking or baking classes. Not into the culinary arts? Check out the Plains Art Museum and try your hand in a Clay for Couples Class! There’s a class for every type of artist (trust us you have an artist inside you yet!)

SUPPORT LOCAL ART

If you haven’t noticed the Fargo-Moorhead area is surrounded with support for local art. Do your part and visit one of the local galleries, take a class or even take a picture with one of the many art pieces located downtown. Support can be shown on social media too! If you want to make a day out of it look up Fargo’s art murals and wrapped city benches - it is like a little scavenger hunt!

Our growing community is filled with amazing date opportunities. Perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic date with your significant other. What’s your favorite Fargo date?

Until next time - stay warm Fargo!
