Nancy Baier
Nancy Baier Art
Artist Name: Nancy Baier
Hometown: I'm a Michigander, originally from a suburb of Detroit, then 19 years in a small town "up north," and now living in Fargo since 2017.
Art Styles Produced: Encaustic painting, polymer clay, painting, ink drawings, and printmaking
Who or what is your biggest influence and why?
Nature. Endless inspiration. Even one scene or element of Nature presents a new face from moment to moment, day to day. Fascinating.
What work do you most enjoy doing?
Every medium I work with offers its own challenges, potential, and satisfaction. What I enjoy most is being caught up in the "zone," when the creative process is at its best.
What is your professional goal?
Keep learning, continue to develop my style, and maybe even teach workshops one day. It is great to be in a city that is supportive of local artists.
"The titles are inspired by the paintings themselves. In this series, I had only a general idea of where I intended to take the scene. The colors and initial background were my guides to spontaneously creating the foreground and mood."
- Nancy Baier
Although the pieces listed here on FargoStuff.com are printed replicas, Nancy created the original pieces of artwork using a melted, wax-based paint composed of beeswax, resin and pigment, applying it with a hot iron to paper.
